Blessings, Darlings!
Got my meds and hit the grocery store I get them at, and the Aldi's. Got home to find my first unemployment check AND a letter from work saying that we are no longer 'no on the schedule due to lack of business' but are now 'separated' from our jobs. Due to things closed down due to Covid 19, we don't currently have to look for work to keep getting the unemployment comp. The unemployment check included the $600 federal unemployment stimulus. Yay?
And look at this shit that Covid 19 does to the body. You thought drowning in your own fluids was all? Read this: https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/04/how-does-coronavirus-kill-clinicians-trace-ferocious-rampage-through-body-brain-toes .
Spent a chunk of time sitting in the yard, listening to the birds, just enjoying a spring day. The oak trees is about to go Big Green. The Cherry tree is already there. The sycamore is barely budding.
Tomorrow will be 'drive to the Big City to go deposit checks in the bank, and maybe go to Costco."

Frig's day
Blessings Darlings!
The Spawn is just back from taking the weekly shopping trip. Walmart had toilet paper (not that he bought any, we're fine), he had no problem getting fresh lettuce, frozen veggies, eggs (limit 2 dozen), 2 gallons of milk, a 3 pound chub of ground beef, a 10 pound bag of chicken leg quarters. That's probably 2 weeks worth of meat. But he forgot the ice cream. Not an earth shaking problem, that one.
Oh - y'all DO know that PornHub Premium is free, since folks are all self-quarantining? Today IS the day of Venus . . .
Finally got thru' on the Unemployment site, and filed. Vacuumed around my desk. Worked on a proposal to send to one company today, and planned another one to send on Monday. Filled and ran and unloaded the dishwasher. Wild life, ain't it?
Started a bunch of seeds today. Parsley, basil, spinach, lettuce, beets, radish, turnips, rutabagas. Ever hopeful spring!
While I was working the seeds, the wren was on the roof of our house, singing away. I took that as a good sign.
Welp, that's today's boring update. I'm not bored - but it's surely not intriguing to others.

As If
Blessings, Darlings!
As if there is anything ELSE to do when unemployed due to the Corona virus pandemic, I suppose I might start blogging again.
Or get my garden well started, even if it's a bit early.
We're financially privileged enough that we'll get thru' my being unemployed (especially since I'll be applying for unemployment with in the next 12 hours) - the Chubby Hubby is over 70, and now on Social Security. But as you might have noticed from his (and my) age, we are in at risk ages. And the Spawn has asthma. So I'm happy that the Spawn and I are now home (we worked in the same restaurant.)
Oh - we live in the first town in West Virginia to officially have a case of Covid 19. I'm sure I'll blog about that 'officially' thing sometime.
But first I have a cake in the oven, and seeds to start, and I really need to set up a new schedule for myself now that I'm not working nights. I might choose to start getting up earlier, now that I don't get home at 11 pm and want to eat and otherwise transition after getting home.
At any rate - I'm likely to blog more, but it's likely to be boring stuff like what I did in the garden and what I cooked. With occasional rants on 'why did folks clean out the dry beans from the stores, but not buy any spices to use on them?' and such.

Unemployment!
Blessings, Darlings!
This last Sunday, May 17, at 3 pm, Corporate locked the doors at the restaurant Spawn and I worked at, closing the store. No official advance warning, just a notice of a mandatory meeting about 'food safety issues'. Oh, okay - for those who Googled the company, there was this announcement last month that they would be closing a bunch of restaurants.
So Spawn is out of his only job, and I'm out of my #2 job. He will qualify for unemployment. I won't. We will be able to see the severance package this weekend. Word is that we'll be offered two weeks pay (I worked there 19 months, he worked there 3 1/2 years), but what we'll have to sign away to get that isn't clear. We MAY be offered jobs at other restaurants in the chain, but that's not guaranteed - nor if the Spawn gets hired is it at ALL guaranteed that he'll get his current pay. He's gotten a LOT of raises while he was there, because he's that good.
Now, an $850 hit in our monthly budget is, of course, PAINFUL (that's what I was paid plus what the Spawn pays in rent). But we're applying for new jobs, and y'all KNOW that I can do the Cheap Bitch thing really well. Yes, veggies are going into the space I had meant to put a flower bed in. Yes, I spend this morning washing out 'lightly used' zip-lock bags for re-use. Yes, I have bones and skin from chickens past browning in the oven now, for chicken stock later today.
You and I know the drill. We've been around this block before.
It's a real shame, tho', for many of our coworkers, who relied on this as their only job. They really need good thoughts from all y'all for getting new jobs.
